Home » Mayor's Office » News » 2025-06-11 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Roadway Safety Improvements on General De Gaulle Drive Near Rue Parc Fo
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) will perform safety improvements on General De Gaulle Drive near the U-turn at Rue Parc Fontaine on Friday, June 13, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. All work is expected to be completed in one day, weather permitting.
The scope of work includes removing existing flex posts and outdated pavement markings, installing two new stop signs, and applying new striping and lane markings.
These changes are designed to improve driver visibility, reduce the risk of crashes, eliminate lane confusion and merging conflicts, and transition the traffic pattern from a merge to a full stop for better safety and navigation.
Traffic Impacts:
The U-turn at Rue Parc Fontaine will be closed during construction
Drivers will need to make a left turn at Rue Parc Fontaine instead of using the U-turn
Motorists should follow all posted signage and instructions from work crews
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area and allow for extra travel time. DPW appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to make our streets safer.
